Changing Database Error

Experiencing a down database issue with ServerIntellect (the ones that replaced Valiant Host). Been down for about 5 hours now, and they don’t seem to know what they are doing, so I am not hopeful that this will be resolved anytime soon.

I get the following error message when I go anywhere on the server:
“Cannot connect to database. Check your config.php file.”

I would really like to change that to something like …
“Server is down for maintenance - please check back shortly”

Any way to do that?

Hi Anthony,

Well, that should be possible if you have access to the server itself. The easiest would be to build a simply web page that said that. Then on the server rename index.php in the root folder to index-orig.php and put your new file on the server as index.php. That way customers should all see that message.

You may also want to think about moving to our new partner Engine Hosting (http://www.enginehosting.com/web_hosting/solutions/helpspot/) where HelpSpot is treated first rate. Doing a database dump and moving shouldn’t be a problem from a technical perspective.
