HelpSpot notify on unassigned request


We have a HelpSpot instance where all the users have ‘notify on unassigned request’ checked so they get an email when I ticket comes in. Is it possible to create a new category and to not send an unassigned email when new requests are created with this category (using the private API)? Basically they want emails for all requests except ones that come in via API. Anyway to accomplish this?
