How To: Updating from 4.x.x to 4.9.x on Linux

This is a HOW TO for Minor Revision update for helpspot, in this case on an CentOS Linux
We create a webroot directory for the helpspot install in /var/www/helpspot.domain.tld

CREATE BACKUP COPY OF EXISTING WEBROOT FOLDER

CENTOS 6.11
/var/www/helpspot.domain.tld

unalias cp
cp /var/www/helpspot.domain.tld /var/www/helpspot.domain.tld.backup

DOWNLOAD Updates from


cd /tmp
tar -xzvf helpspot.tar,gz

cd /tmp/helpspot_4.9.x
cp -rf * /var/www/helpspot.domain.tld

cd /var/www/helpspot.domain.tld

php hs update
[user@helpspot.domain.tld]#
php hs update
