Idiot proof upgrade?

hi, has anyone ever successfully upgraded from ver 4.0 to 4.5 by simply clicking on the windows installer file and everything just works perfectly? I understand we need to key in the password for the database at the start of the installation, but is there any other manual step required?
i am having trouble with upgrade twice now, the first time from ver 3 to ver 4.0 and now from ver 4.0 to ver 4.5.10. In both cases, the installation looked fine but after that all users are denied access to Helpspot.

I really hope it can be as simple as upgrading anti virus program or Windows. :frowning:

My problem has just been resolved. It is due to a httpd.conf file in the apache folder that is not working. Once replaced with the backup copy (before upgrade), it works fine.

Still no idea how this can happen.
