Installation problem - 'cannot access database'


On running installer.php, I can hit the ‘Start Installation’ button, it informs me it can connect to the database and all extensions and such like are fine, I enter my name and email address, etc and hit ‘Finish Installation’.

I’m then given a white screen saying:

‘Cannot access database. If this is a new installation please go to the installer page.’

Clicking on the link to the installer page just takes me back to the beginning again…

Help please!


Ally, what database are you using?

Check the database users permission that they have the permissions to actually create tables. It may be that the user can access the database, but doesn’t have permissions to create tables so the database can’t be built in the last step.
