Ian,
when I made the helpspot server accessible from the internet, I can login to helpspot from my company blackberry but I cannot view the inbox or queue becaue it tries to redirect me to the internal ip of the server

Yes, Andrew is likely right. You need to change the cHOST variable in config.php as he noted. That should fix it.
