Set Default Category for Create New Requests


We are starting to use Helpspot to log our technical calls, voice mails, etc. Every time an associate creates a new request they have to select the Category. Is there a way to make it default to a specific Category as this would save a few seconds for every call.

That’s not directly possible in the UI but there’s a few other things you can do. 1 is to use prepared responses and so have it set category among other fields to streamline the entire process.

If you really only need to set category when creating a new request you could set the category ID in the URL like so:


Then have staff bookmark the URL for each category they use and they can fast access it via their browsers bookmarks.
