Template Staging


I would like start working on a new template for our support interface. From the knowledge books, it seems that HelpSpot automatically checks the custom templates folder and uses the code within: “HelpSpot’s template system will automatically check the /custom_templates folder and use the template from there instead of from /helpspot/templates.” [from ]

Is there a way to work on a custom template without HelpSpot checking the folder and pushing the template live?


Hi Steven,

You could setup a secondary portal and built it out in there. That way you could see it with live data but on a different URL.

You’re also free to install a local development copy of HelpSpot and work on it there.
