What happens if we edit custom fields?


So let’s say we have a drop down list for specific items that become obsolete. What happens to old tickets when we delete items from that list? Do the old tickets still have that data? Can we still search on that data? or what would be the best method to deal with this? There’s no “make inactive” option for the list items.

One idea we had was to create a new “list”, which would have all of the items we wanted to keep and remove the obsolete items. Then we would hide the old list and present the new one.

Any other options?


I agree this would be helpful. We are keeping many obsolete choices in our dropdown menus in order to hold on to legacy reporting information.
